Released in 2001, The Best Bits of Late Show Champagne Edition is 2-DVD set containing all three original VHS volumes of the The Best Bits of Late Show, along with heaps of extras including 50 minutes of previously unreleased material, a behind-the-scenes Stills Gallery and a full-length commentary track from all the cast. Apart from those fans who have hoarded VHS copies of the original broadcasts of The Late Show, this will be only way viewers can relive the show. 

The DVD set, as well as Bargearse on VHS is still available through the ABC shop www.shop.abc.net.au or other music/DVD outlets. It is a highly recommended package for any fan to have in their DVD collection.

Easter Eggs on Disc 1


Enter the "Volume 1" menu, then enter the "Volume 2" menu. Highlight the "Select Clip" option. Press Left, Up to highlight the word "DON!" at the top of the screen. Press Enter to view a hidden clip.

Enter the "Volume 1" menu, then choose the "Select Clip" option. Select "11-15", highlight "14" (Singo's Latest Work), then press Up, Right to highlight a face at the top right part of the screen. Press Enter to view a hidden clip.

Enter the "Volume 1" menu, then choose the "Select Clip" option. Select "26-31", highlight “Menu”, then press Left, Down to highlight a bow tie at the lower right part of the screen. Press Enter to view a hidden clip.

Enter the "Volume 2" menu, then choose the "Select Clip" option. Select "16-20", highlight "17" (Paul Lyneham), then press Up, Left to highlight the letters "GGNP" at the lower left part of the screen. Press Enter to view a hidden clip.

Enter the "Volume 2" menu, then enter the "Volume 1" menu. Highlight "Volume 2", then press Right, Left to highlight a dog bone. Press Enter to view a hidden clip.

To find the subliminally picture of Gumpy, from small-time Aussie rap group Mighty Big Crime and Freaked Out Flower Children, (tba).

To find the subliminally picture of of Peter Andre and the "Gratuitous Subliminal" message, play Disc 1, Volume 1, Chapter 22, Tom's Dog. Press pause when your DVD player's counter reaches 54:10. It's at the end of the sketch where Ellie returns into the studio.

 

 
 

Easter Eggs on Disc 2


Enter the stills gallery and advance until you get to the "Shirty unmasked" still of Russell Crowe. This is quite a fair way in so be patient. Press Up and the message "Imagine there’s a picture of a certain award that begins with the letter O here" will appear. Press Enter to view a hidden clip to find out who is really inside Shirty.
